I like cat, isn't it obvious?

Bambu Lab is going to follow Nintendo?

Or is it just a scare tactic?

Bambu you grow big now and you become bully and bare your fangs against open source coder, which open source community your entire empire was built on.

Watch this clip of Jeff about Bambu Lab printer.

I am in the same story as Jeff, I do own a P1S and 2x AMS and the printer is frozen in time with old firmware 01.07.00.00, which is pre-Bambu Connect. I do use 3rd-party accessories like project xTouch to have a bit of extra convenience to move the tool head around or set nozzle temperature in order to clean up the nozzle or remove the clog or manually load / unload filament on the external spool.

To go along with the old firmware I have to use old version of Orca Slicer 2.3.0 as the newest one 2.3.2 (that has the update for H series printers probably) doesn’t work with old fw of P1S: It keeps spouting error about abnormal SD card or something and refuses to upload gcode to the printer.

After the gaslighting on the community about Bambu Connect controversy over a year ago, I stopped buying printer or parts from Bambu Lab. I already accepted the fate of my P1S as the same as something that they wouldn’t support or maintain anymore.

I consider it like how MicroSlop ditches win10 to force people jump ship on to AI-slop win11. I already make peace and ready to rip out the existing electronics of P1S and slap Rpi + BIGTREETECH board on it and join this project bambu lab klipper conversion. Fortunately, my P1S is still holding up quite well until now. So, if the AP board dies, well, that could be the end of my P1S. I think it is just a matter of when as ESP32 is cheap and not that reliable. I’ve gotten too many fail ESP32s over the years.

Well, the main different between bambu lab printer and Anet A8 printer is the bed probe. As for about 2 years ago, the existing solution for bed leveling of the opensource community was not that good, except for Voron Tap. And that was the reason I didn’t build a printer but chose to buy P1S instead. I still have all the parts to build 2x CoreXY printers sitting in a large drawer. Fast forward the last 2 years, I don’t think I will build a printer anymore as a usable 3D printer now is practically cheaper than the cost of parts to build one. Additional, I do still have concerns about 3D printed part inside hot chamber as I print mostly ABS and PETG.

Now, we have Louis joining the fun. I know he really hates DMCA lawsuit (the kind of bully type) against small individuals.

And so FULU foundation is taking stand against Bambu Lab https://www.fulu.org/blog/were-taking-a-stand-against-bambu-labs-join-us

Even Steve GN has to chime in as well

This is going to be fun!

And yeah, just like Steve, I also say “Fuck you, Bambu Lab”
